Compressed Air

Compressed air, like the air we breathe, is comprised mainly of nitrogen and oxygen and suitable for a wide range of applications, depending on grade.

We supply industrial, instrument and zero grade compressed air, all of which we manufacture here in Australia. Our industrial air is used to power pneumatic tools and is also used in a variety of other commercial applications, such as plasma cutting, hard soldering, blast furnace and brazing. Our instrument grade air contains lower quantities of contaminants and is suitable for pneumatic instrumentation and more delicate air tools as well as controlled oxidation and atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS) applications. The zero grade air we manufacture contains less than 0.1 ppm hydrocarbons and is most often used as a purge, carrier or detector gas with analytical instrumentation.

Whether you need a regular supply of industrial or instrument grade air, or if you wish to place an order for our zero grade air, please contact us for pricing and delivery information. We supply high-quality compressed air to commercial customers across Australia and New Zealand.

FAQs

  • Where can I buy a compressed air cylinder tank?

Customers with an account can purchase direct delivery from Coregas, or through our national depot network. You can also purchase compressed air through our independent distribution partners including Bunnings for our Trade N Go range. Click here for our store locator.

Coregas account customers can choose their preferred method to place an order. Coregas offers online ordering via our website or app, our Australian call centre as well as through fax or email.

  • How is an air cylinder tank stored?

In common with other compressed gases, the cylinders in which it is stored may explode if exposed to very high temperatures that cause the gas pressure to rise beyond the level of which the cylinders are designed to handle. Accordingly, gaseous compressed air cylinder tanks should be stored upright, in a well-ventilated storage area that is dry and cool.

  • How much is air to buy?

The cost of compressed air from Coregas depends on the amount and grade that you order. If you would like an accurate quotation, please get in touch with us to let us know exactly what you need.

  • How long does a cylinder tank of air last?

It depends on what you are using it for and how frequently you use it. We can assist you in calculating how long your air cylinder — just let us know what sort of applications and processes you are likely to use it for.

  • What is compressed air made of?

In essence, compressed air is the same air we breathe, except it has been compressed to fit a large volume inside the body of the cylinder. However, some contaminants are removed to make it suitable for use with various air tools and instrumentation.

  • How is compressed air quality tested?

The purity of compressed air can be tested in a number of ways. Laser particle counters, hygrometers, detector tubes, high-efficiency membranes and gas chromatography are used as part of QA/QC processes to ensure that our industrial and instrumentation air meet the required specifications for their respective applications.
