Carbon Dioxide Gas

Carbon dioxide (CO2) comes compressed in cylinders or as a cryogenic liquid in bulk and is suitable for a wide range of applications

As manufacturers and distributors of carbon dioxide gas to commercial and individual customers in all parts of Australia, we supply industrial grade (carbon dioxide 2.5), laboratory grade (carbon dioxide 4.5), food grade and aviation grade CO2 gas. Both our carbon dioxide 2.5 and carbon dioxide 4.5 can be used for MIG welding, increased spatter, plasma cutting, cooling, inerting and pH balancing. Carbon dioxide 2.5 is also used for dry ice making, cleaning and blasting, while carbon dioxide 4.5 is used for pipe freezing, carbon dating and in laboratory liquid trap applications, in addition to the aforementioned uses.

Whatever grade of CO2 gas you require, contact Coregas today to discuss your needs with one of our experts. We are committed to providing all of our customers with an exceptional level of service and we can assure you that all of our commercial gases are manufactured in compliance with relevant industry standards.

FAQs

  • Where can I buy carbon dioxide gas?

Customers with an account can purchase direct delivery from Coregas, or through our national depot network. You can also purchase carbon dioxide gas through our independent distribution partners including Bunnings for our Trade N Go range. Click here for our store locator.

Coregas account customers can choose their preferred method to place an order. Coregas offers online ordering via our website or app, our Australian call centre as well as through fax or email.

  • How is carbon dioxide gas stored?

Carbon dioxide gas should be stored in a very well ventilated place as even relatively small concentrations of CO2 can cause rapid adverse health effects or loss of consciousness. Cylinders should be stored upright and away from sources of heat to avoid the possibility of venting due to increased pressure.

  • How much is carbon dioxide gas?

Please contact us directly, or get in touch with your local distributor, if you would like to find out exactly how much it will cost to order the quantity and grade of carbon dioxide that you need.

  • How long does a cylinder tank of carbon dioxide last?

This will depend on the size of the cylinder tank, as well as what you are using it for. If you know the flow rate of CO2 gas that is used in your application, we’ll be happy to provide you with some approximate figures to help you plan your stock levels.

  • Is CO2 heavier than air?

CO2 gas is roughly 1.5 times heavier than air, which means that in the event of a leak, the concentration of carbon dioxide gas in the air that is closest to the floor may increase considerably.

  • What does CO2 stand for?

CO2 is the chemical formula for carbon dioxide and indicates that each molecule of carbon dioxide gas consists of 1 carbon atom joined to 2 oxygen atoms.

  • How do you make CO2 gas?

Commercial CO2 gas is produced as a by-product of various industrial processes that involve the combustion of natural gases (in industrial facilities where hydrogen and ammonia are produced). It may also be recovered from natural sources although this is not as yet a very cost-effective process.
