Nitrogen Food Grade, gaseous or liquid, is widely used for food applications: blanketing, controlled atmosphere storage, modified atmosphere packaging (MAP), sparging, food freezing and chilling, and grain fumigation. In cryogenic liquid format, liquid nitrogen is often abbreviated as "LIN".
Uses
- Combined with carbon dioxide (CO2) and oxygen for Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) applications.
- When used in combination with lowered temperatures, it is usually a highly effective method for extending the shelf-life of food.
