BTEX calibration gas mixtures

This group of calibration mixtures includes the components benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylene. They are used for gas detection and air quality monitoring especially around petrochemical facilities.

There are many different volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that may be present in the air around petrochemical facilities. Four that are commonly measured together are referred to as BTEX. They are:

  • Benzene
  • Toluene
  • Ethylbenzene
  • Xylene

Calibration gas mixtures with these VOCs are often required at the following concentrations:

Product selection guidelines

In addition to a calibration gas (bump test gas or span gas), a zero gas, such as 5.0 grade nitrogen or Zero air will also be required to set the zero reading on the gas detection equipment.

Portable cylinders for calibration gas mixtures are also commonly selected for gas detector calibration applications.
