Medical Carbon Dioxide

Medical grade gas used for therapeutic treatment in humans and animals

CO2

Medical Carbon Dioxide is used as an anaesthetic supplement in various clinical circumstances by doctors, dentists, nurses, veterinarians, anaesthetists, respiratory specialists, dermatologists, hospitals, day surgery and so on.

Uses

  • Maintaining optimum blood carbon dioxide levels, facilitating blind intubation and rapidly increasing depth of anaesthesia with volatile agents
  • Respiratory stimulant after apnoea or after relief of chronic respiratory obstruction
  • Prevention of hypocapnia during hyperventilation
  • Clinical and physiological investigations, including use as insufflation gas
  • Used in liquid form during cryosurgery to freeze tissue

CAUTION: CYLINDER USE IN PROXIMITY TO MRI

Steel cylinders contain a substantial quantity of ferromagnetic material and MUST NOT be used in proximity to MRIs under any circumstances.

When medical gas cylinders are intended for use in a room in which magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is being performed, the cylinders and associated equipment must be considered to potentially contain ferromagnetic materials.

Coregas recommends that the standard safety protocols for determining what materials may be brought into proximity with an MRI are applied to all gas cylinders and equipment.
